I use my work to better process and reframe my anxieties and introspection. My fears are transformed when I extract and connect fragmentary parts of this world into a new controlled environment.
Each piece mimics a surreal state with limitless possibilities of where and when. By utilizing muted complementary colors, light, and perspective, I map out my composition. I then distort my subject matter to a point where moments are recognizable and relatable but the reality is questionable. My subject matter varies and is a combination of figurative, landscape, or structured, geometric elements. Each piece is a search to find a balanced combination to help re-illustrate my experiences. Through painting and collage, my art explores thoughts around mental health and sheds light on conventional, disordered thinking we can or have fallen victim to in one way or another.
