Escape Route 2024
In today's dystopian world, I find that constant doomscrolling and information overload only make my anxiety worse. I often feel overwhelmed by the darkness. Escapism becomes a lifeline, allowing hope and color to re-enter my world. During those pockets of relief, the shadows recede, revealing life's beautiful complexity once more.
Through this new body of work, I want to spark a dialogue about escapism and explore its impact on my journey. Escapism serves as a vital tool, offering respite from the overwhelming stress and negativity of daily life. However, does it truly provide a sanctuary from life's challenges, or does it hinder personal growth? Is it "healthy" to constantly want an escape? Each piece portrays surreal scenarios with an abstract depiction of a portal or means of escape—serving as tangible reminders of our choices. I invite viewers to delve into the intricate dynamics of escapism in our lives, contemplating its dual nature as a nurturing retreat and a potential barrier to personal development. The medium of painting, in this context, serves as a portal itself, offering a departure from the digital noise. It empowers the viewer to decide whether to engage or withdraw, reflecting on the role of escapism in their own journey.
